I’m glad to let you know that we have a new colleague on board at the MWM group. Jonas Niese just started his PhD on “Urban water quality under drought conditions” as part of the NWO Thirsty Cities project lead by Lara Wöhler. You can find Jonas in room W-213 in the Horst building.

| I am Jonas and I have recently joined MWM as a PhD student within the new Thirsty Cities project. My research will focus on water quality under drought conditions in Dutch cities. I did my Master’s degree at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, where I applied machine learning techniques to estimate various river water quality parameters from remote sensing imagery. During my Bachelor’s studies at the University of Vienna, I contributed to the PRINCESS project, investigating greenhouse gas emissions from rewetted temperate fens. I am broadly passionate about freshwater systems and particularly interested in how they interact with societal norms, practices, and power relations. I’m really excited to join your group at UT and to learn from and work with you over the coming years. |
