My name is Leonard van Schelven and I was born in Rotterdam in 1968. I studied electrical engineering at the University of Delft (MSc 1991), with a specialization in systems and control. After a year in military service, I started working as a technical scientific employee at the University Medical Center Utrecht, department of Medical Technology. From 1997, I was trained there as a medical physicist, and registered with the Dutch Society for Medical Physics (NVKF) in 2001. I continued working at the UMC Utrecht in various projects, amongst others in the department of Clinical Neurophysiology. In 2006 I started my PhD research on micro-neurography for system identification of the neuromuscular system, which is a joined project of the University of Twente (BMTI spearhead program Cognomics) and the UMC Utrecht, in collaboration with the TU Delft
