On Wednesday, 2 August, television program EenVandaag aired an interview with UT-Associate Professor Sarthak Misra.
He explains the work of his team on the subject of Needle Steering. Click here to watch the interview.
Better diagnosis and treatment
The Surgical Robotics Labaratory (SRL) aims to develop new, minimally invasive surgical technologies. Needle steering is one aspect of their research. Steering needles with the assistance of robots allows greatly improved targeting accuracy in hard to reach areas of the human body. This offers all kinds of possibilities for better diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Prof. dr. Sarthak Misra directs the SRL, which is part of the department of Biomechanical Engineering. On Monday, 24 June, he was awarded the Big on Small-award at the MARSS-conference 2017 (Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales) in Montreal, Canada. He received the award for his significant contributions on the subject of micro/nanomanipulation.
