M.Sc. Eduardo M. Gonçalves da Silva

Eduardo Manuel Gonçalves da Silva was born in Vila Real, Portugal, in 1981. He obtained his “Licenciatura” degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) (Porto, Portugal) in 2005. During his last year he participated in the ERASMUS mobility program, studying one year in Gothenburg, Sweden. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Master of Digital Communication Systems and Technology from the Chalmers Technical University (Gothenburg, Sweeden) in 2006. His master thesis was done at the Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory (TIK), ETH-Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland), in the area of Service Management in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks.

Since 2007 he is a Ph.D. Associate at the Centre of Telematics and Information Technology (CTIT), University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands), first in the Architectures and Services of Network Applications (ASNA) chair and currently in the Software Engineering chair (also known as Twente Research & Education on Software Engineering, TRESE). He has been involved in the European IST-SPICE project. His research and professional interests are: distributed systems/applications, service-oriented computing, dynamic/automatic service composition, semantic web, and how to combine these for the design and development of adaptable architectures to support user-centric service composition. He is currently teaching assistant in the course of Service-Oriented Architectures with Web services (265215).


Eduardo likes to read books (thrillers, science fiction, biographies, computing history, novels, politics, social, etc.), watch good films, play football, play video games, travel...
