Getting Started

The laser microscope available in the Systems Integration Lab is a Keyence VK-X3000. To start a session:

  1. Turn on the SIL-EE PC and log in.
  2. Switch on the control box. A small black control box sits next to the microscope. The power switch is on the back.
  3. Press the power button on the right side of the microscope. A blue light should start flashing, indicating the system is starting up.
  4. Open the viewer application on the PC and let the XY origin self-calibrate before placing your sample on the stage.

On the first booking, a lab assistant will walk you through lens selection, focusing, sample placement, and using the measurement tools.

General Protocol

If you're unsure about the material or sample you will put under the microscope is allowed, ask a lab assitant.
