Stephan van Gils holds the chair for Nonlinear Analysis in the department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente.

His research interests are in computational neuroscience, population dynamics and bifurcation theory. He concentrates on detailed neuronal models and analysis of population models. This has applications related to Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.

He holds a part time position at the mathematics department of the University of Utrecht.
