Wireless Propagation Channels (WPC) (191211030)

Teaching

Course description

This course serves as an essential preparation for students aiming at a study or career relevant to wireless radio communication and sensing. While radio systems are desiged to perform charmingly in specific application scenarios and use cases, the system design needs to be optimized to countermeasure the chanllenges when applied in the uncontrollable environment. The key fundamental aspects of both the designable system and the uncontrollable radio propagation channel will be addressed in this course.

Content

This course provides fundamental principles of mobile radio communication and their performance evaluation. This course starts from the  fundamentals of radio propagation and  digital communication, and extends to the core techniques in radio system design and the countermeasure against dispersive mobile radio channel. This course ends with an outlook over the most recent research developments in 5G/6G, as well as an invited talk from an inspiring academic/industry figure.
