An innovation developed through collaboration between the PS Group at the University of Twente and Wetsus has been featured on the European Commission’s Innovation Radar public platform.
The work was carried out as part of H2OforAll, a successful EU-funded Research and Innovation project that recently concluded. The featured innovation, titled “Sensing Infrastructure for Real-Time Monitoring of Physical and Optical Parameters in Drinking Water,” focuses on improving the monitoring of disinfection by-products in chlorinated drinking water.
The researchers developed cost-effective sensor-monitoring devices that combine indirect sensing, spectrometry, and advanced artificial intelligence and machine-learning techniques. This approach is intended to enable more accurate, real-time detection of disinfection by-product contaminants, supporting safer and more reliable drinking-water monitoring.
The recognition by the Innovation Radar highlights the innovation’s scientific quality and its potential for further development and real-world application.
