UT researcher Clara Stegehuis nominated for New Scientist Science Talent 2025

Clara Stegehuis, Associate Professor at the Faculty of EEMCS, has been named one of the fifteen finalists for the New Scientist Science Talent 2025 award. From dozens of entries, the editors of New Scientist selected the most promising young researchers from the Netherlands and Flanders.

Stegehuis’s research focuses on mathematical models that help unravel the complexity of networks from social media connections and internet infrastructures to biological systems. Her work contributes to a deeper understanding of the interconnected world in which we live.

Starting today, the public can vote for their favourite candidate at newscientist.nl/talent. Voting is open for three weeks, with public votes accounting for 50 per cent of the final result and a professional jury determining the remaining 50 per cent. The winner will receive a €1,500 prize, made possible by Van der Voortgroep B.V., and will speak at the Gala of Science on 25 November at the International Theatre in Amsterdam.
