Professor Bram Nauta elected as a new member of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering

The University of Twente proudly announces that Professor Bram Nauta, distinguished researcher in integrated circuit design, has been elected as a new Fellow of the Netherlands Academy of Engineering (NAE). His membership became public today when NAE officially installed twenty new Fellows and Young Engineers during a ceremony at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede.

The NAE brings together leading engineers, technologists, and innovators from academia and industry who have demonstrated exceptional scientific and societal impact. Membership is reserved for individuals who show outstanding leadership in major technological and societal transitions. Professor Nauta is internationally renowned for his groundbreaking contributions to analogue and RF-CMOS chip design. His “Nauta transconductor” is implemented in billions of chips worldwide and has significantly influenced mobile communication and data transfer technologies. At the University of Twente, he shaped the “Analogue Hotspot Twente” ecosystem, strengthening both research excellence and regional innovation in chip technology.

NAE board member Marieke Huisman emphasises the importance of the new members: “They are frontrunners shaping a resilient, sustainable future. What unites them is their drive to create real, positive impact through engineering.” Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS), Prof. Boudewijn Haverkort, congratulates Nauta: “This recognition underlines Bram’s influence on the global chip community and the innovation power of our university. We are proud to have him as a colleague and inspiration for our students.”
