UTFacultiesEEMCSMonth of EducationProgramme31 May: Recognition & Rewards

Recognition & Rewards

After a time of successful enthusiastic progress, this R&R movement is not without risks and some challenges. Therefore, SEG is organizing a UT-wide event!

The event will be in the light of national developments around the theme of Recognition and Rewards (R&R) but also support staff as also stated in our manifesto. The event is aimed to have a broader constructive dialogue and hear different voices - to maintain our safe working atmosphere and to reaffirm that everyone at UT can benefit from R&R; that it can also be done differently! And we want to take a step forward - to get ideas for concrete actions out of this event, we want to capitalize on the collective humanistic wisdom of UT.

The event has the form of a 'talk-show' in which various propositions will be presented. The idea is that initially five propositions are being introduced. The audiance will be asked to choose propositions we will debate about more deeply.

You are invited to the talkshow on 31 May at 14.00-16.30 at the Technohal; TL3138.

The main goal of the InnovatieCentra Academisch Bètaonderwijs in the Netherlands (ICAB) is to improve the quality of university beta and engineering education.

The ICAB community is driven by research professors from ten universities in the Netherlands. Teachers work on projects that include themes like renewal of curriculum, study success and professionalization of teachers and professors. This cooperation ensures the exchange of knowledge, experience and research into the professional field and best practices.

Every year the ICAB conference is organized by one of the participating universities. The conference is a place where research professors, directors of education, academic counsellors and education policy advisors from all beta faculties within Dutch universities can meet.

The beta fields that are part of the ICAB are mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and biology. These five fields are also part of the ICAB logo, presented in green, purple, red, orange and yellow respectively.

On Monday the 30th and Tuesday the 31st of May, the ICAB conference 2022 will take place. This year’s edition will be organized by the science faculty of Utrecht University.

After being forced to switch to online education in early 2020, the educational community has learned a great deal about the new situation. During the ICAB conference we allow ourselves to take a step back and reflect on what this upheaval has taught us.

The program will start on the 30th with a keynote by Prof. Dr. Jacqueline van Muijlwijk-Koezen of the Vrije Universiteit, and an opening lecture by Prof. Dr. Maarten Vansteenkiste of Ghent University, followed by a diverse set of workshops.

Do you want to know more? Please have a look at the website of ICAB 2022 or sign up for the 30th and 31st!

As there is no programme in the Gallery, there is also no poster presentation or lunch.
