Fulya Kula and Lerna Pehlivan represented EEMCS and DAMUT, as well as FERMAT, at the closing event for the third cohort of 4TU:CEE Teaching and Learning Fellows on 27 January 2026.
Such a fellowship lasts two years and in that time the fellow has the time and funding to run a project related to teaching and learning in their discipline. There is always at least one fellow per faculty in the cohort and there are two senior fellows, of which Fulya was one.
The theme was “Building inclusive communities” and Fulya and Lerna’s projects were respectively entitled Inclusive Mathematics Education: The Bridging Course Initiative at the University of Twente and Visualization of 3-dimensional Concepts in Multivariable Calculus.
DAMUT has always been well represented in the Teaching and Learning Fellowships, with Tracy Craig and Tugce Akkaya as previous fellows.
While the fellowship projects have come to an end, or are in their final stages, the project contexts continue, with the very popular Bridging Course providing interesting results as well as mathematics support, and vector calculus visualisation forming part of a suite of FERMAT research projects.
