A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITIES
The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab (DS&AI Lab) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) connects external organisations with researchers and students at the University of Twente. We conduct short exploratory projects that bring students and researchers together to address practical questions from business and society. These projects serve as a starting point for innovative solutions, creating opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration.
The DS&AI Lab is part of a wide range of research activities across the EEMCS faculty. These activities span different disciplines and application areas. We are always open to discussing how we can contribute to your data science and AI challenges, and how these challenges may also inform and inspire our future research.

One key opportunity is MKB Datalab-Oost (SME Datalab East), a programme supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and (semi-)public organisations such as municipalities, healthcare providers, housing associations and educational institutions in the Eastern Netherlands. MKB Datalab-Oost offers access to expertise, tools and inspiration to help organisations take meaningful steps in data-driven innovation and AI.
We support organisations at every stage of their AI and data journey. This might include strategic sessions on the potential of AI, practical co-creation workshops, short-term student placements to explore data opportunities, or longer-term projects that result in a tailored proof of concept developed under academic supervision.

Would you like to apply your academic knowledge to practical projects in data science and AI? At the DS&AI Lab, students work on real-life challenges in collaboration with researchers and external organisations.
