Academic communicative skills – educating the global citizen of tomorrow

In a recent blog published by Hollands fastest growing and most innovative employment agency Young Capital, soft skills are considered to be crucial for all activities involved in a professional context, equally important to hard skills. On top of the list of relevant soft skills Young Capital ranks communicative skills, how to communicate effectively within a project team, develop productive working relationships, handle conflicts.

The Vision 2020 strategy, published by the University of Twente, stresses the fact that graduates will be employed in a fully international working environment. Educating the global citizens of the future, who need to develop expertise within and aimed at an international context.

How are we preparing our students for a working environment that is internationalizing rapidly, changing continuously. What academic communicative skills are we teaching them to prepare for a 21st century job market? Are requirements changing? Do we have to adapt existing programmes, develop new ones?

The NACV Board would like to invite you to University of Twente’s Design Lab and Classroom of the Future as an inspiring environment to address these questions during the Expert Meeting on January 27th 2017.
