Abstract

The energy transition is not only a technical challenge, but also a societal one. A solution can be elegant from the technical point of view, but may be horrible to use. In the end, we as human beings will need to live comfortably with all the emerging smart devices and algorithms.

The solutions developed by our group are technically rock solid. However, little attention has been paid to user friendlyness. The development of (novel) interfaces that match our  ystem not only make our technical solution more tangible, but may also make us re-think how we can improve our methods with an eye for user acceptance in the future.

Therefore, we challenge you to design interfaces or other ways of human-machine interaction (e.g. speech, colors, apps, etc.) that match our system and the required input for optimization algorithms. Furthermore, machine learning / predictions can be used to enhance the user experience as our system relies on it too. The result should be a prototype interface, but also with recommendations to improve our methods.
