When is it appropriate to do a panel meeting or a questionnaire?

Experience taught us that questionnaires are better for bigger groups, whereas panel meetings are more suited for smaller ones. If a course has less than 10 students, it is better to consider a panel meeting. A questionnaire needs at least 10 responses to generate adequate results and the rule of the thumb is that the respons rate of a questionnaire is around 30%.

A questionnaire can be useful to identify positive and negative aspects of the course or module and provides you with the opinion of a diverse group of students. A panel meeting, on the other hand, can be more useful if you have already defined an area you want to know more about. It provides you with the opportunity to ask follow-up questions.

Is it possible to do a panel meeting and a questionnaire?

Yes, it is possible to do a panel meeting as well as a questionnaire. Both have different advantages: where the questionnaire can collect opinions of many students, it can also identify an area you want to know more about, which can be addressed during a panel meeting. Vice versa, a panel meeting can raise a conflict or success, which can be validated by a larger group of students through a questionnaire.

Do I have to formulate all the questions for the questionnaire myself?

No, that is not necessary. You are free to generate your own questions but a library of pre-existing questions exists, which are designed to evaluate different parts of a course. If you let us know which part of the course or module you would like to evaluate (lectures, project,...), we can apply these questions as applicable. You can find a link to the example questionnaires below, showing the already existing questions that are currently in our question library.

What is the difference between our service and the SEQ?

The difference between our surveys and the SEQ is mainly that our surveys are more customized, while the SEQ is more general. If you'd like to have specific feedback on a part of the module or on the assignments etc, we can give you the possibility to create a questionnaire yourself.

When do I need to request an evaluation?

Preferably, a course evaluation is requested during the first four weeks of a new quartile. When an evaluation is timely requested, we can assure that the course is evaluated properly. We will try to do our best to create suited evaluations for requests send after this time.
