award EEMCS bachelor's diplomas October 2020

The graduation ceremony for the bachelor's programmes of the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science (EEMCS) is always a big event. In previous years, the ceremony took place for five programmes on the same day. This year, this was also the plan in the Grolsch Veste, until two weeks in advance restrictive measures were put in place that made this impossible. The organization was faced with the challenge of organizing an alternative ceremony in a short space of time.

Alma Schaafstal and Satie Biharie adjusted the program for the graduation ceremonies of the Bachelor's programmes Applied Mathematics, Business Information Technology, Technical Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Creative Technology. With the restriction of a maximum of 30 people in the hall and no guests, the diplomas were conferred in eight sessions spread over two days. To allow parents, family and friends to enjoy the ceremony, they were able to watch it live. The candidates in the hall could see them through the projection on the side wall of the hall. This way, the graduation ceremony could still be experienced together in this special Corona time.

A total of 155 students came to collect their diplomas on 15 and 16 October. In 8 sessions with a maximum of 25 students, there were a number of speakers, including the dean, a student and a study association. Congratulations to all these students! Via the video you can see a short impression of the successful, corona-proof ceremony.
