Congratulations to Stefano Nicoletti, Caz Saaltink, and Valentijn Hol! Stefano got selected for the 2nd place of the VERSEN PhD thesis award, while Caz and Valentijn got selected for the 1st and 2nd place respectively of the VERSEN MSc award.
- Stefano has analysed the problems which happen if there are both malicious actors (e.g., hackers) as well as natural risks (e.g. hardware failures) and also objects interacting with each other.
- Caz has put this idea into practice, by providing algorithms and tools to extract concrete numbers out of given scenarios, and has demonstrated the quality of his work by analysing several case studies.
- Valentijn provided significant practical contributions to solving parity games, by studying implementations of earlier theoretical ideas. Parity games naturally show up when studying the automatic construction of correct control software for devices such as waterlocks and railway control systems.
You will be able to meet all of them at the SEN Symposium 2026 on 1. May 2026 where their achievements will be recognised.
