Since the transition to TimeEdit, there has been a frequently expressed wish to automatically synchronize schedules with the personal Outlook calendars of staff and students. This option has been investigated.
Consultation with the TimeEdit supplier shows that such a link is only possible through a technical solution that requires very extensive access to all UT calendars and mailboxes, without individual users giving explicit consent. This introduces risks in terms of privacy, data protection, and control. Based on these risks, and following advice from the CISO, the UT has decided not to implement this Outlook integration.
The Platform Educational Logistics & Operations has also concluded that the added convenience does not outweigh the risks. We are currently exploring whether a secure alternative may be possible in the future, including in collaboration with the national TimeEdit community.
