Title: "A Guided Tour through Optimal Transport”
Abstract:
Prepare your lunch bag and join a guided tour through the world of Optimal Transport (OT) that has recently gained increasing attention in various fields ranging from biology to machine learning and mathematics. We will encounter the basic concepts of OT slightly biased to my own research interest motivated from a statistical perspective. Especially OT based dissimilarity measures can be designed to respect the underlying ground metric structure and hence provide meaningful notion to compare general probability distributions. In fact, this often results in visually appealing and well interpretable outcomes which explains the advancement of OT based data analysis.
