From Neural Circuit Behaviour to Human Sensory-Motor Function

micro meso macro

Within this theme we investigate how human function arises from the neural system and how impaired or lost functionality can be restored by neural sensing or modulation techniques. Sensory, nociceptive and motor function are observed using psychophysical methods, movement sensing and neurophysiological recordings. Stimulation methods are optimized for identification, control or modulation of neural mechanisms underlying human functions of interest. This theme advances our understanding of the human functions under normal as well as pathological conditions and provide starting points for the development of clinically applicable diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation methods.
