BSS well represented at the BME 2019 conference

BSS is well represented at the BME 2019 conference that organizes sessions covering the broad field of biomedical engineering, e.g. in cardiovascular modelling, image acquisition and processing, surgical instruments, tissue and cell engineering, neural modelling, diagnostics and stimulation, nano-biology, data processing and visualization, etc. The field of Biomedical Engineering is a rapidly developing field, with many breakthroughs at the edge between medical and technical sciences.

Several BSS members and students presented their work during oral and poster presentations:

  • Xenia Hoppenbrouwer - Night to Night Variability Analysis of the Saturation Signal in Children with Suspected Sleep Apnea
  • Janne Heijs - The Interaction Between a Cognitive Dual-Task and Visual Cues on Freezing-Severity and Gait in Parkinson's Disease
  • Bouke Scheltinga - Review and Simulations of Upper Extremity Movement Smoothness Measures in Stroke for Reaching
  • Kostas Konsolakis - Human Behaviour Monitoring Through Smartphones
  • Laura Schrijver - E-Supporter: Personalized Technology Supported Coaching of Patients with Chronic Diseases
  • Boudewijn van den Berg - Psychophysical and Neurophysiological Correlates of Nociceptive Paired-Pulse Facilitation
  • Niels Jansen - CUTASTIM: a Superficial Stimulation Electrode for Pain Sensitivity Measurements – an Explorative Study
  • Jaap de Ruyter van Steveninck - Smart Glasses for Visual Cueing in Augmented Reality: an On-Demand Turning Aid for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson’s Disease.

See https://www.bme2019.nl/program for the abstracts and co-authors of above menstioned presentations and the total BME 2019 program.
