TechMed Event 2026: Hospital of the FuturePressure on Dutch healthcare is mounting: more patients, more complex care needs, and a shrinking pool of healthcare professionals. To keep good care accessible and affordable, healthcare needs to be organised differently. On Thursday 5 November 2026, the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente will host the eighth edition of the TechMed Event. This year's central theme is ‘The Hospital of the Future: towards a tenfold increase in healthcare productivity’. The event looks at how technology, innovation and smart forms of organisation can dramatically expand healthcare capacity without losing sight of quality of care.

New members YAT 2026Rob Bemthuis is an Assistant Professor in the Pervasive Systems group (EEMCS), where he investigates how distributed intelligence can help complex organisations recognise emerging behaviour and respond effectively to change. His research brings together multi-agent systems, the Internet of Things, process mining and enterprise information systems to turn fragmented data into coordinated action. Working in domains such as logistics and the built environment, he develops data-driven methods and digital architectures that support more adaptive, transparent and sustainable operations. He also (co-)leads several PPS research projects that connect academic research with real-world challenges in areas such as supply chains.
