PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND FATIGUE AFTER CANCER
BACKGROUND AND PROBLEM STATEMENT
Many patients that previously experienced cancer remain severely fatigued until long after finishing treatment. Their fatigue is often unpredictable and strongly hampers return to work and quality of life. Both exercise and psychological treatments seem effective in reducing such fatigue, but for example traveling to a health care institution can be a big obstacle. As the cancer-related fatigue has so many ways of presenting itself, we hope to find better indications for successful interventions.
In this project, we offer an Internet intervention to such patients in a three-armed RCT in order to see what works for whom. All participants of the RCT will have a baseline measurement which consists of both activity measurements with an accelerometer, and a set of questionnaires. The aim of this assignment is to research and develop a multidimensional model (including physiological, psychological and illness-related aspects) to understand the patient’s experienced fatigue.
