What is a student for a day experience?
During a Student for a Day experience, you’ll follow along with a (first-year) student during a regular day at university, together with up to three other prospective students. The exact programme depends on the study of your choice and the preferences of the participants, but it typically includes:
- Attending a lecture and/or a seminar
- Visiting the study association
- Asking questions to current students and lecturers
- Exploring study materials and textbooks
- Taking a guided tour of the campus

Frequently asked questions
Which bachelor's programmes offer a Student for a Day experience? What can I expect after signing up for a Student for a Day experience? Once you’ve registered for a (group) Student for a Day experience, you’ll go through the following steps:
- Registration: After completing the form, you’ll receive a confirmation email.
- Confirmation: Within a few days, you’ll get an email with additional details from the student who will be guiding you during your Student for a Day experience.
- Preparation: You don’t need to prepare anything. Shortly before the Student for a Day experience, your student guide will get in contact with you to talk through the schedule together. If you have questions in advance, feel free to include them in the registration form or send them to the student already – you’ll go through them together on the day itself.
- Student for a Day: The student will meet you at the agreed location and time.
- Follow-up: After your Student for a Day experience, your student guide will send you a follow-up message in case you have any remaining questions. If anything is still unclear, they’ll be happy to help.
When can I take part in a Student for a Day experience? Student for a Day experiences take place on campus at set times from September through June.

Can I also take part individually? The (group) Student for a Day experiences are organised in small groups of up to four prospective students. Depending on the number of registrations, you’ll join one, two, or three others during a Student for a Day experience at the University of Twente.
Would you prefer to take part individually? That’s also possible. You can sign up using the individual registration form. Prefer to meet with a student online? Then register for an online meet-up, where you’ll have a one-on-one video call with a student from the study programme you’re interested in.
