In early April, a safety incident occurred in the Waaier building, where debris fell from the ceiling in one of the lecture halls (Waaier 2). Two halls (Waaier 1 and 2) were immediately closed as a precaution.
Repair works have since started and are progressing according to schedule. To prevent recurrence, an additional supporting structure is being installed. The aim is to complete the works on 27 April. Until then, all scheduled activities will be relocated to other venues.
An analysis has been carried out to determine the cause of the incident. The specific construction involved is only used in these two lecture halls and not elsewhere in the building or on campus. The chosen solution ensures a safe situation. As an additional precaution, the frequency of inspections will be increased for the time being to closely monitor safety for all users.
