Registrations for the national Nextcloud pilot are coming in steadily. Have you seen the earlier announcement but not yet responded? This is a good moment to still get involved.
WHY THIS IS RELEVANT NOW
Within education and research, digital sovereignty is more topical than ever: greater control over data, transparency about where information is stored, and reduced dependency on Big Tech platforms. For this reason, SURF is not running this Nextcloud pilot as a short experiment, but over a longer period (approximately one year), in close collaboration with universities and universities of applied sciences.
WHAT ARE WE EXPLORING IN THIS PILOT?
Together with other institutions, the University of Twente is exploring whether Nextcloud can serve as a viable open-source alternative for (parts of) our current collaboration environment. This includes working together in teams, shared workspaces and document management, with data hosted in Dutch data centres.
GOOD TO KNOW
- The pilot will run for approximately one year
- Start for end users: March
- An expression of interest does not yet constitute a final commitment
WHO IS THIS INTERESTING FOR?
Do you work in a chair group, project team, department or other collaborative setting where documents are jointly developed or managed? If so, this pilot may be of interest to you, whether your work relates to education, research or support services.
