This week, the University of Twente reached an important milestone: the brand-new MSc Humanitarian Engineering has officially started. After several years of preparation and collaboration across the Faculties of ET, BMS and ITC, the programme welcomed its very first cohort of enthusiastic students. The launch included introductory sessions, a visit to WOT, and a picnic where students and staff got to know each other in an informal setting.

About the MSc
The two-year MSc Humanitarian Engineering is an interdisciplinary programme that equips students to design, implement, and critically reflect on technical solutions for vulnerable communities worldwide. Students engage in hands-on, challenge-based learning projects on topics ranging from disaster risk reduction and water management to energy access, healthcare technologies, and infrastructure resilience.
