At the end of November, the Starbucks on campus will permanently close its doors. The franchise agreement between food service organisation Albron and Starbucks is coming to an end. As a result, the contract with the University of Twente, which expires on November 30, 2025, will not be renewed.
Since its opening in 2015, Starbucks has been a popular meeting place for students and staff with its ‘third place’ concept — a space between home and work where people can meet and enjoy coffee or tea.
This marks the end of the unique Starbucks Experience on campus.
Starting November 10, Albron will begin removing all Starbucks branding, and services will cease from that date. The University of Twente is currently exploring new possibilities for the space in the Zilverling building.
