UT will continue to offer students with an officially recognised refugee status the opportunity to study for a lowered tuition fee, equal to the statutory tuition fee. Refugee students possessing a foreign identity card type W are also eligible for this reduced tuition fee scheme.
Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, UT implemented a temporary arrangement that allowed students under the Temporary Protection Directive from Ukraine to study at UT on the basis of a reduced tuition fee. The Executive Board has now made the difficult decision to discontinue this arrangement for Ukrainian students. Students from Ukraine who fall under the Temporary Protection Directive are therefore no longer eligible for the statutory tuition fee scheme.
The updated scheme is open to refugee students from all other countries and regions who hold an official refugee status. In this way, we support their opportunity to study despite the circumstances in their country of origin, recognising that their financial means are often limited.
