The cao/cao-NU Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is concluded after consultation between the VSNU (Association of Universities of the Netherlands) and several employees' organizations. Generally, the duration of the cao-NU is for one or several years.
Apart from matters like remuneration, leave and pension, the cao-NU also includes conditions on social security. Arrangements concluded in this respect are incorporated in the Netherlands Universities Enhanced Unemployment Scheme (BWNU) and the Sickness and Disability Scheme of Dutch Universities (ZANU). Both schemes form part of the cao-NU.
