Application and admission for students with canceled and delayed secondary school exams

Due to Covid-19 several national exams for secondary schools are cancelled or delayed. As a prospective student, this may be applicable to you. Below you will find the guidelines about how UT will handle your application in case of cancelled or delayed national exams for scondary schools.

GENERAL RULES ABOUT EXAMS, FOR BACHELOR STUDENTS STARTING 1 SEPTEMBER 2020

EEA Students
  • Graduation date on diploma has to be before 1 September 2020 
  • Student must know that he passed his exam no later than 1 September (Exam results before 1 September)
  • Diploma or graduation statement is necessary for enrollment
  • Ireland: if the graduation date is after 1 September, students can’t enroll in September 2020
  • Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Norway: Exams in certain subjects have been canceled (for example in Physics) but a student does have his / her VWO level diploma. Normally we ask for an additional test, but this is only taken in the Netherlands, which is currently not possible. CES-SAS has decided that the student must have followed the relevant course up to and including the last year. (List can be supplemented with other countries!)
  • European Baccalaureate: Formal European Baccalaureate examinations will not take place this year and the examination marks shown on the certificate will be taken as the final examination marks for the European Baccalaureate. Students will be admitted.
  • International Baccalaureate: Exams are canceled. Students will get a diploma and will be admitted
Non-EEA students
  • Graduation date on diploma has to be before 1 September 2020
  • Student must know that he passed his exam no later than 1 September (Exam results before 1 September)
  • Diploma or graduation statement is necessary for enrollment.
  • UT applies for a visa based on the predicted grades and conditional admission. Student is informed by Student Services of the consequences if he fails high school exam:
    • Student cannot start with the bachelor and has to go back to his home country if he arrived already in Enschede or
    • Student cannot start with the bachelor but can do an foundation year at Twente Pathway College
  • Indonesian students: From this year on the national exam is no longer taken, students with only school exams Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) will not be admitted for the bachelor
  • International baccalaureate: Exams are canceled. Students will get a diploma and will be admitted
