The university is more than education.

Hey everyone! I am Sarah, just turned 25 years old, and I come from São Paulo in Brazil. I just started the 2nd year of my master’s in Business and IT (BIT), where I follow the Data Science track. One of the things that I like the most about UT is how the university creates the perfect environment for students to be involved in the technology world and be part of creative projects that creates the future.

Why the University of Twente?

UT is a technology hub, it propels and attracts high tech solutions. It instigates students to think and work on the challenges of today and tomorrow. These complex problems provide great learning opportunities and give students the initial experience for their future work life.

It has many different associations and activities that allow the students to develop themselves, meet new people and make friends, and, of course, enjoy the student experience to its fullest. From joining various sports teams and study associations to teaming up to develop a solar boat, there is a great diversity of possibilities. Therefore, at UT you will always be able to find like-minded people with similar interests who will help to make Enschede feel like your second home.

Studying at UT is not only about the student life. Choosing to follow this master opened many doors for me in my career. I just started to work as an intern at an innovative Dutch company from Enschede (city where the university is located). I’m working on a very interesting project related to my studies and I could not be happier about my choice!

Living in the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a very small country compared to Brazil. It has a great public transport infrastructure which makes it easy to travel around the country (or even to other countries) by train or catch flights from well-connected airports. Besides, your bike will be your best friend here. No matter how cold (or rainy!) it is… you will always see someone on a bike. Distances are not overly large and the Netherlands are flat, which makes biking the most convenient means of transportation in the city. Since Enschede is near the border with Germany, one day I was able to bike to the closest city there and it took roughly one hour! For Brazilian standards, it is crazy to experience that, which made it an unforgettable experience.
