The University of Twente applies two types of student tuition fees. Find out which fee is right for your situation.
Tuition fees are adjusted annually on the basis of the Dutch Consumer Price Index and an academic year is the annual period of sessions beginning in September and ending in June.
If you are a national of an EU/EEA country, it is likely you need to pay the so-called ‘statutory tuition fee’. This fee is determined and subsidised by the Dutch government. The statutory tuition fee applies to most, but not all students from EU/EEA countries and/or master’s (also see ‘Institutional tuition fee’). Visit the website of Student Services for detailed payment conditions.
In the Netherlands, the statutory tuition fees for the academic year 2022-2023 are:
Euro 2,209 per year for a master’s. Each (academic) year the tuition fee will be adjusted.
Dutch universities do not receive government funding for non-EU/EEA students. Therefore, except for the pre-master's, non-EEA students need to pay higher fees. Visit the website of Student Services for detailed payment conditions.
The University of Twente applies the following institutional fees for the academic year 2022-2023:
Euro 12,750 per year for a Alpha-Gamma master’s. Each (academic) year the tuition fee will be adjusted.
Euro 16,500 per year for a Bèta master’s. Each (academic) year the tuition fee will be adjusted.
These master's have different fee structures:
2-years Master's in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC): Euro 26,775. More detailed payment conditions.
2.5-years (part-time) executive Master's in Public Management: Euro 32,500. Check the conditions for payment (Dutch only)
2.5-years (part-time) executive Master's in Risk Management: Euro 34,000. Check the conditions for payment (Dutch only)
To follow a pre-master's you have to pay an amount per EC. The total amount is based on the number of EC’s from your pre-master's.
The amount per EC is set at 36,82 EUR for the academic year of 2022-2023
Your pre-master's is 30 EC. You will pay € 36.82 x 30 EC = € 1.104,60.
Your pre-master's is 45 EC. You will pay € 36.82 x 45 EC = € 1.656,90.
If you apply for a scholarship for a two- or three-year course, bear in mind that the institutional tuition fees for the following year are not the same. The fees for the subsequent years increase yearly and are therefore higher than year 1. Take this into account when applying for a scholarship. This can prevent you from having to co-finance the difference in tuition fees for the following years.
