In general every prospective student applying for the MSc programme Systems and Control is assessed on the following criteria.

Eligibility check

Our eligibility check is designed to assist you as a student holding a non-Dutch diploma. It gives you an indication of your eligibility, i.e. your chances of being admitted to the master's programme Systems and Control. The e-check takes about five minutes to complete. The outcome of the eligibility check is a personal advice to you.

Admission requirements

Required knowledge

  • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Advanced Technology, Applied Physics or an equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of the following topics: Mathematics, Control. 

» Required information to prove the fulfilment of the requirement:

  • Copy of diploma
  • Transcript of records
  • CGPA of at least 70% of the maximum score, or your country's equivalent
  • Course descriptions
  • Abstract of thesis

Language skills

  • Sufficient mastery of the English language.

» Required information to prove the fulfilment of the requirement:

  • Academic IELTS, overall band score of at least 6.5, or
  • TOEFL, internet based (TOEFL-iBT) of at least 90, or
  • Cambridge CAE-C (CPE)
  • In addition, Chinese nationals need a Nuffic certificate


  • Your  motivation for taking the MSc programme of your choice
  • Why you are interested at the University of Twente
  • In which specilization are you interested and why?
  • Examples of one or more Master's thesis topics that interest you. 

» Required information to prove the fulfilment of the requirement:

  • Letter of Motivation (max. 2 pages)

Other requirements

  • Resume (Europass)
  • Names and addresses of referees (2)

In case you carried out your thesis research in a group, then please describe what your contribution to the project was. If you have not finished your thesis yet, please give a description of your plans regarding the thesis.
