Double Degree

Get in touch with a student of this Master's

Expand your knowledge and skills in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society with a philosophical reflection on the domains of Business Administration or Public Administration.

As a student of the Master’s in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society, you have the opportunity to add a second master’s to your programme by following a double degree. You can combine this master's with two other master’s at the University of Twente (UT): Business Administration or Public Administration.

What is a Double Degree?

With a double degree, you follow two different Master’s simultaneously, either at the same university or at another one (abroad). Upon successful completion of a double degree programme, you will receive two separate diplomas, awarded by UT and (if applicable) one of our partner universities.

As you are doing two programmes at the same time, it will take less time to complete two degrees than it would have if you studied them one after the other.

  • Linking PSTS and Business Administration

The combination of the Master's in PSTS and the Master’s in Business Administration (BA) will make you the next tech navigator who will help companies and governments tackle complex cross-border challenges and implement effective digital solutions. You will learn how the interaction between science, technology, and society reflects on innovation processes in business and management and help improve these processes.

Upon completion, you will receive two Masters:

    • Master of Science in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society
    • Master of Science in Business Administration

    Structure and how to apply

In addition to the (elective) courses that are part of the UT Master’s in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society, you will extend your knowledge with a deeper understanding of management, innovation, and change processes and strategy making. You will follow courses from the Master’s in Business Administration such as Entrepreneurial Leadership and Responsible Design, International Entrepreneurship - a Strategic Technology Perspective, and Management and Governance of Innovation and Creativity, among others. You can complete your double degree by writing a joint master’s thesis.

If you want to enrol on the double degree programme, you have to apply for both master’s programmes separately. This means that you need to comply with the admission requirements of both programmes. The double degree takes two years to complete.

  • Linking PSTS and Public Administration

How can governments ensure security of citizens’ data in times of rapid technological change? If you combine the Master’s in PSTS and the Master’s in Public Administration (PA), you will address complex political-administrative, societal, and technological challenges within the public sector. You will learn to analyse, develop, and implement public policies and to resolve multiple – and often highly conflicting – stakeholders’ interests.

Upon completion, you will receive two Masters:

    • Master of Science in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society
    • Master of Science in Public Administration

    Structure and how to apply

In addition to the (elective) courses that are part of the UT Master’s in Philosophy of Science, Technology & Society, you will acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in analysing, developing, and implementing public policies and resolving multiple – and often highly conflicting – stakeholders' interests. You will follow courses from the Master’s in Public Administration such as Deliberative Governance of Knowledge & Innovation, Public Governance and Policy Networks, and Crisis Management in Technological Domains, among others. You can complete your double degree by writing a joint master’s thesis.

If you want to enrol on the double degree programme, you have to apply for both master’s programmes separately. This means that you need to comply with the admission requirements of both programmes. The double degree takes two years to complete.
