Admission Double Degree for students of Dutch universities

Did you obtain your bachelor's degree from the University of Twente or another Dutch research university? Depending on your academic background, you may need to complete the Pre-Master's programme before starting the Double Degree Master's in Policy, Governance & Communication.

Below, you can check whether you are eligible for direct admission or need to follow a pre-master's first.

UT Bachelor's applicants

Are you (almost) holding a degree of one of the programmes at the University off Twente below? Then you are directly admissible to the Double Degree in Policy, Governance & Communication.

Public Administration
Communication Science

If you hold a bachelor's degree from none of the above programmes, you might still be admissible for the Double Degree after completing the Pre-Master's.

Admission requirements

To qualify for the Pre-Master’s, you have to meet the following conditions:

Required diplomas and prior knowledge

Bachelor of Science (or equivalent), in Communication Science, Public Administration or in a closely related field. Knowledge of at least 4 of the following topics:

Economy and Law
Digital Media
Marketing Communication
Media Use and Effects
Organisation Theory
Organisational Communication
Political Science
Social Networks
Sociology
Strategic Management

Motivational letter, give clear and relevant information on why you are applying for the double degree Master’s programme Policy, Governanance & Communication

Students with a university bachelor degree that is not closely related to Communication Science and Public Administration typically have to take a pre-master before starting the Master’s Communication Science.

Please submit two separate applications via Studielink for both MSc Communicatin Science and MSc Public Administrartion. Also provide clear and relevant information why you are applying for the double degree Master’s programme Policy, Governance & Communication in your motivation letter.

How to apply?

Haven’t graduated yet?

You may be granted conditional acceptance based on your transcripts, detailed curriculum information, relevant research and expected graduation date. To be fully enrolled in the (Pre-)Master's, you do need to submit your Bachelor's degree diploma, once you have obtained this. You can also start your application if you have obtained your bachelor's or master's degree at UT in the past.

Need to follow a Pre-Master's first?

You don't need to sign up for the Pre-Master's itself. You apply by signing up for both Master's. UT will alter this to a pre-master's registration based upon your admissibility. Please contact one of the study advisors to discuss the available options.

To apply for the Double Degree Master's in Policy, Governance & Communication, please submit two separate applications via Studielink: one for the Master's in Communication Science and one for the Master's in Public Administration. In your motivation letter, please explain why you believe this Double Degree is the right fit for you.

Contents of the pre-master

The content of the pre-master’s programme depends on your previous education. Students with a different bachelor’s degree usually follow an individual pre-master’s track tailored to their academic background. This means the standard 30 EC programme may not apply; instead, specific courses will be selected to prepare you for the master’s programme. Please contact the study adviser for more information.
