Become an expert in managing large construction projects, combining both management and digital skills.
How can we make infrastructure and the build environment more sustainable? How do we align the diverse interests of suppliers, governments, and citizens in complex construction projects? And how can smart technologies help us monitor infrastructure, reduce maintenance costs, and prevent failures? As the construction industry faces increasing complexity—driven by digitalisation, sustainability goals, and ageing infrastructure—there is a growing demand for professionals who can combine technical expertise with strong management skills. The specialisation in Construction Management & Engineering (CME) centres on the management of large projects within the construction industry, focusing on both the engineering and organisational aspects of construction processes.
What is Construction Management & Engineering?
The 21st-century construction industry is changing fast and growing more and more complex – facing many challenges at once. The CME specialisation prepares you to lead large-scale construction projects and to manage complex infrastructure assets across their entire lifecycle, from design to deconstruction and potential reuse. You’ll gain expertise in project management, procurement, and asset management, while also learning to design, simulate, and optimise construction processes using advanced digital tools. By the end of this programme, you can deliver economic and social value through building and maintaining collaborative networks, and you’ll be equipped to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s societal challenges in the built environment.
Did you know that you can also follow this specialisation as a separate master’s?
If you choose to follow the 4TU Master’s in Construction Management & Engineering, you will be able to follow courses at the University of Twente, but also at Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology. Completing this programme will earn you a master’s degree in Construction Management & Engineering, instead of a degree in Civil Engineering & Management. Find out more on the website of the Master’s in Construction Management & Engineering.
