My name is Pauline Arts. In 2012 I graduated from the University of Twente and I am now working as Innovation Manager at the Association for the Dutch Industry for Defence and Security.
The NIDV is a special interest group acting as both a partner of and an intermediary between industry and government in the field of Defence and Security. Any company located in the Netherlands is eligible to join the Association, on the condition that it is already undertaking business activities in the defence and security sectors or is aspiring to do so.
Members of the NIDV also include knowledge institutions carrying out research and development relevant to the defence and security sector. The Association itself is a non-profit organization that aims to promote and encourage the involvement of industry in the Netherlands and get contracts from a variety of ministries whose portfolio encompasses different aspects of security.
My job is also to encourage and increase innovation within the Defence and Security sector. This means that companies are able to take part in a variety of government programmes for innovation and benefit from contacts with knowledge institutions, as well as a variety of subsidy schemes. On a daily basis I also play an active role in the development and influencing of government policy, particularly those related to the defence industry and national security.
