The University of Twente has many years of experience in education and clinical research in the field of imaging and diagnostics. The education of this specialization is closely related to the work of respected research groups.
The scientists in the Imaging and in vitro diagnostics programme are dedicated to visualizing and understanding the biological processes in cells and humans. Their new methods for ultrasensitive diagnostics are not only extremely clear and exact, but also significantly reduce the impact on the patient by imaging the body without the need for an operation or the injection of contrast fluid. Ultimately, new techniques will be developed that enable physicians to offer their patients better treatment based on improved evidence from in vitro imaging and in vitro diagnostics that are more fit-for-purpose and that provide a quicker cure.
Our researchers use the latest techniques in the field of optics, optical microscopy, lab-on-a-chip and other in vitrodiagnostics, photo-acoustics, ultrasound, radiation and magnetism. A combination of fundamental science and imaging techniques allows those researchers to investigate how certain structural abnormalities of proteins are related to diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
The programme consists of a mix of core courses and electives, enabling you to create your own personalized Master’s programme.
