Graduation and Research

Get support in choosing a master’s

After your internship you will work on a master’s assignment in the field of Operations Research. The choice of your specific graduation subject will be largely up to you. For example, you may want to contribute to the development of new theory around a certain mathematical model or algorithm, or design new algorithms or mathematical models that help you to solve a practical case, or improve current business practice.

Examples of research questions include:
  • How to predict traffic on road networks with new infractructure?
  • Which routes should patrol cars take in high-crime areas?
  • How to design optimal multi-appointment schemes in healthcare?
  • How to optimally steer the micro-power plants in households?
  • How to optimally manage traffic at train stations?

Research groups

Research and education in Operations Research is organised in two research groups. You may choose which one you will join as a junior researcher, either right at the start of after the first year. For the duration of the whole programme a mentor will be assigned to you to guide you through important decisions such as compiling the perfect set of courses and choosing the best type of internship. The research groups that are offering this specialisation are:
