Scholarship Ceremony 2016 University of Brilliant Minds

On 13 January, the international Master’s students who have received a scholarship from the University of Twente were given a warm welcome with a special evening at the Sky Lounge of Grolsch Veste stadium. The scholarship students started their programme in September 2015 and received a full or partial scholarship from the university’s own funds in the form of a University of Twente Scholarship, an Orange Tulip Scholarship or a Holland Scholarship.

This special group of one hundred students were guests of honour and presented with a scholarship certificate. The University of Twente is particularly proud of these students and hopes that they will become ambassadors for the university.

The aim of (co-)funding students by means of a university scholarship is to help bring outstanding international talent to the region and to the Netherlands. The University of Twente’s ambition is to attract 640 outstanding international Master’s students a year by 2020.

The welcome programme included an opening address by the Rector Magnificus, after which the students were presented with the scholarship certificate by the dean of their faculty, signed by the President of the Executive Board. After a short speech by the Student Union, the event was rounded off with a group photo and the students were presented with a specially designed sweater with the text: University of Brilliant Minds.
