Dual qualification in Purchasing and Supply Management From September together with Finland

As part of the University of Twente’s master’s degree in Business Administration for the Purchasing and Supply Management profile, a dual qualification will be possible from September 2015. This will be a joint qualification at UT and Finland’s Lappeenranta University of Technology. Very few other universities offer study opportunities of this kind. The UT ranks among the world leaders for Purchasing Management and there are only two or three comparable courses in Europe.

“The master’s profile in Purchasing and Supply Management is important for UT students,” explains Holger Schiele (Professor of Technology Management – Innovation of Operations). “Not only for students of Business Administration, but also those with a bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology. In their future careers in business, they will often have to deal with innovation and purchasing. As part of the High Tech Human Touch profile, the UT also trains purchasers who specialize in development projects. The UT is well represented in this field and one of Europe's leaders.” The University has two professors specializing in Purchasing and Supply Management: Jan Telgen, Public Procurement specialist and Holger Schiele, who specializes in industry. “At European companies, 60% of turnover goes directly to the suppliers. Businesses therefore have much to gain from professional purchasing management. Many private educational providers have recently started to offer master’s degrees in Purchasing. Together with its Finnish partner Lappeenranta, the UT is one of the first public universities to have specialists in these areas.

The master’s degree in Business Administration offers two additional international challenges in the form of two-year dual qualifications: Technische Universität Berlin (Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland (Purchasing and Supply Management).
