Required documents for admission

The following documents serve as examples of the files that we require from students who wish to enter the admission process.

Passport

Instructions: 
Please upload a clear copy (in PDF format) of the personal pages of your International passport, your ID-card (European Union only) or a copy of your birth certificate in English here. Please understand that we can only accept documents in English, as we do not accept other scripts (e.g. Arabic, Chinese, Greek). Please make sure that your city of birth is mentioned on the identity document as this is a requirement for the verification of your personal details.

*Your upload will be used to verify your personal details. Furthermore, the information will be used to make sure that your name and date of birth on your diploma(s) correspond with the personal pages of your passport/id card/birth certificate.


Bachelor Degree

Instructions: 
Please upload your official (provisional) Bachelor certificate. Your name and the name of your University should clearly be stated on this document.

Your upload will be used to verify that you’ve obtained your Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree at a recognized higher education institution. Furthermore, your diploma will be used to assess the level of your education, as each country has a different educational system.

Transcript of Records

Instructions: 
Please upload your official transcript of records in a single pdf file. Your transcript of records must contain the logo and name of your institution. If you transcript consists of multiple documents, please combine these documents into one document (chronological order).

Your upload will be used to assess the grades that you’ve obtained during your study. Furthermore, the upload will be used to gain more insight into the courses of your programme and the length of your previous degree.

Additional Degree

Instructions:
Please upload your additional Bachelor's or Master's certificate. Your name and the name of your university should clearly be stated on this document.

Your upload will be used to verify that you’ve obtained an additional Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at a recognized higher education institution. Furthermore, your diploma will be used to assess the level of your education, as each country has a different educational system.

Additional Transcript of Records

Instructions: 
Please upload your official transcript of records of your additional degree (in a single pdf file). Your transcript of records must contain the logo and name of your institution. If you transcript consists of multiple documents, please combine these documents into one document (chronological order).

Your upload will be used to assess the grades that you’ve obtained during your additional study. Furthermore, the upload will be used to gain more insight into the courses of your programme and the length of your previous degree(s).

English Language Test: IELTS

Instructions:
Please make sure that you upload a clear copy of the official test result.  

All students need proof of sufficient mastery of the English language, to be proven by the official test score document of the Academic IELTS (overall band score of at least 6.5)  

Please note that if you are from an English speaking country in Africa (e.g. Nigeria, Ghana), you will have to take one of the internationally recognized English language tests (IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge CAE-C).


 

English Language Test: TOEFL

Instructions:
Please make sure that you upload a clear copy of the official test result.  

All students need proof of sufficient mastery of the English language, to be proven by the official document of the TOEFL iBT (overall score of at least 90)  

Please note that if you are from an English speaking country in Africa (e.g. Nigeria, Ghana), you will have to take one of the internationally recognized English language tests (IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge CAE-C).


English Language Test: Cambridge

Instructions:
Please make sure that you upload a clear copy of the official test result.  

All students need proof of sufficient mastery of the English language, to be proven by the official Cambridge CAE-C (CPE) document. 

Please note that if you are from an English speaking country in Africa (e.g. Nigeria, Ghana), you will have to take one of the internationally recognized English language tests (IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge CAE-C).

Abstract

Instructions:
Please upload an abstract of your thesis. If you have not yet completed your thesis, please upload the temporary version of your abstract. If you do not have a thesis, please upload a document explaining why a thesis is not available.

Your abstract will be used to gain more insight into the specific field that you’ve written your thesis about. 

Motivation Letter

Instructions:
Please upload your motivation letter in English (PDF file). Your motivation may contain several subjects, such as a clear motivation of goals and a motivation for taking the Msc programme of choice.

Your upload will be used to assess your motivation and specific goals for entering the University of Twente.

CV

Instructions:
Please upload your CV in English.  

Your CV will be used to gain more insight into your education, your professional career and your extracurricular activities.


Course Descriptions

Instructions:
Please upload course descriptions of your previous degree programme(s). Each description should include:

- The title (the same as in the transcript of records)
- A course summary (a brief description of the main areas that are covered during the course). 
- The books that you have used during the courses. This applies only to courses relevant for your chosen programme at the University of Twente. Please keep in mind that we do not accept an upload of your transcript of records.

The admission committee will assess your upload to gain more insight into your specific knowledge and/or skills.

GMAT or GRE

Instructions:
Please upload your official GMAT/GRE score report (only for Business Administration & Industrial Engineering and Management).

The results of the GRE and GMAT are used to assess specific skills and knowledge, such as intergrated reasoning and analytical writing.

Portfolio

Instructions:
Please upload your portfolio (only for the Master Industrial Design and Engineering). A portfolio is a collection of your (design) work samples thus far, showing your work as a designer. It can show the product design process from the sketches in the beginning to the final concept by using drawings, photos and/or images. It should show a variety of skills, development and experiences and should show why you are suitable for the Msc Industrial Design Engineering

The portfolio is a mandatory requirement for admission to the Master Industrial Design Engineering.

Financial Statement

Instructions:
Please keep in mind that your are required to use Euros (€) to indicate your expenses and income.

Visit our tuition fees websites for information on how much the institutional and statutory tuition fees are and which fee applies to you or the programme of your choice. Each (academic) year the tuition fees will be adjusted/indexed.

In addition to a budget for tuition fees, you will also need a budget for housing and day-to-day expenses and costs may also incur for insurance and a visa application. An overview of additional costs can be found here.
