Why do an internship abroad?

What are the conditions?

The conditions for doing an internship abroad differ per study programme. Contact your Faculty Internship Coordinator to find out more about the specific requirements and preconditions of your study programme.

  • You are generally required to have fulfilled the prerequisites of the minor/ internship/ graduation assignment, as mentioned in the Education and Examination Regulations (EER), if applicable
  • Travelling is only allowed to safe countries (green and yellow areas at NederlandWereldWijd - enter the country name in Dutch.)  If you do travel to an unsafe region (orange and red areas), please be aware you are no longer eligible for a scholarship. How can I find an internship abroad?

Your Faculty Internship Coordinator is your main point of contact. They can offer support and advice to help you find an interesting and challenging internship assignment or project.

If you’re interested in doing an internship or graduation assignment at one of UT’s partner universities abroad, visit the Mobility Online Search Portal to check out the exchange options for your study programme. Once you’ve found a university of interest, discuss with your Faculty Internship Coordinator.

What are the steps to take?

Arranging an internship abroad may take six to nine months. It is important to contact your Faculty Internship Coordinator as soon as possible to discuss your plans.

As well as checking your study programme's requirements and preconditions, other arrangements need to be carefully looked at, such as agreements, insurance, visas and funding. 

UT STUDENTS PLANNING AN INTERNSHIP ABROAD MUST REGISTER IN MOBILITY ONLINE

Registration is necessary to apply for a scholarship, for UT travel insurance coverage and the emergency abroad service. To find out more, visit What to Arrange. 

Are there scholarships available?

You may be eligible to receive a scholarship for your internship abroad. There are scholarships available for internships both within and outside the EU.
