With effect from 1 January 2019, the maximum reimbursement for a job under the Volunteer Scheme (VWR) will be increased from €125 to €141 per month, with the yearly maximum being raised from €1,500 to €1,700.
In principle, you do not have to pay wage tax or social-insurance premiums for reimbursements under this scheme.
If you are also working as an on-call student and/or as a student assistant, in addition to your volunteer work, your Volunteer Scheme reimbursements will appear on your payslip under ‘additional work’. As a result, wage tax and social-insurance premiums will be levied on these reimbursements, which means your net compensation will be lower.
