During an Open Day, you can attend programme presentations, ask questions to students and lecturers, and experience what it is like to study on the University of Twente campus. By combining a study choice test with a Online Open Day or online meet-up you will gain a clear understanding of which bachelor's programme suits you best.

A bachelor's programme at the University of Twente takes three years and is studied full-time. This means you will spend an average of 40 hours per week attending lectures, tutorials, practical sessions, project work and self-study. After successfully completing the programme, you will receive a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.

To be admitted to a bachelor's programme at the University of Twente, you must hold a secondary school diploma that is equivalent to the Dutch pre-university (VWO) diploma. Admission requirements vary by programme and may include specific subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology.

For international students, the University assesses each application individually. The exact diploma requirements depend on the country where you completed your secondary education. The University of Twente provides country-specific admission requirements on its website. 

If you apply for an English-taught bachelor's programme and hold an international diploma, you must also demonstrate sufficient English-language proficiency. Accepted qualifications include IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT. Check this page for the exact language requirements.

Some programmes have additional admission requirements, such as a numerus fixus, selection procedure or mandatory matching activity. Requirements and deadlines differ by programme, so it is important to check the admission criteria for your chosen bachelor's degree.

Yes. The University of Twente offers a wide range of bachelor's and master's programmes that are taught entirely in English, including programmes such as Advanced Technology, Applied Mathematics and Communication Science.

The University also offers several Dutch-taught programmes, such as the Bachelor's in Biomedical Technology, the Dutch track Psychology and Technical Medicine, and the Master's in Technical Medicine. 

Whether a programme is taught in English or Dutch depends on the specific degree. The language of instruction is always clearly stated on the programme page.

If you experience study delays or have doubts about your programme, you can turn to your academic adviser for personalised guidance. Together, you will discuss the support you need and identify the steps required to continue your studies successfully. Seeking help early often prevents small setbacks from becoming larger problems.

The University of Twente provides support through its Student Guidance & Well-being team. You can contact the team for guidance with personal or mental health challenges, study stress, study choice questions and coaching. Training courses are also available on topics such as mindfulness and self-management, and psychological support is available for students.
