An Introduction to ATLAS The first UCT webinar event

A couple of weeks ago we held the first ATLAS webinar. This was an opportunity for prospective students to get a better picture of the programme, to have any of their questions answered, and the prospective students showed up by the dozen.

Two dozen, to be precise. Over the hour, students and teachers both hopped onto the stream and shared their experiences, detailing what was in the course, how students have personalised the course, and how the results are evaluated. While the presentation went on, there was a team of both students and administration answering questions in the chat. Questions ran the spectrum, from accommodation, to accreditation, to the social side of ATLAS.

I asked the organisers (Merel, Marjolein, Ollie) why they held an event of this format, and they had this to say: “We wanted to create a low boundary event that introduces ATLAS to students all over the world.  With low boundary we mean that people don't have to travel to Enschede or have to email a lot to get questions answered. Therefor a webinar seemed a great option, people from all over the world can join in and ask questions throughout the whole thing. We point out the main features of ATLAS and all they have to do is watch.”

I think we can safely say they did what they set out to do, but one of the main improvements that could be made, is you (if you’re applying), coming and checking out any future events like this. It’s a great chance to pose your questions to many of the staff and students we have.

If you didn’t get a chance to attend.  You can check out the next webinar on April 20th!
