ATLAS Alumna wins the SRC Prize in Economy & Society

A BIG Congratulations to our ATLAS  Alumna Florianne Verkroost for winning the SRC Prize!!!

Just yesterday was the 4th Edition of the Student Research Conference held at Radbound University in Nijmegen. The annual Student Research Conference (SRC) gives bachelor students of both Dutch and Flemish universities from all disciplines the chance to present their research at an academic conference. At the end of the conference an award is given in four respective categories, Language & Culture & Law, Exact, Economy & Society, and Medical & Health.

The University of Twente was represented this year at the Student Research Conference  with 7 students.  Among them was our very own ATLAS alumna Florianne Verkroost.  Florianne was asked to present her bachelor’s thesis, “The Gender Wage Gap in the Netherlands from 1986 to 2012: A Multilevel Analysis” in the category of Economy and Society.

These prominent awards are the only prizes given for research in the undergraduate programs of all universities in the Netherlands and Flanders region. Each year with the announcement of these awards, the doors are opened to the students who have won. Just to give some examples, the winner from a few years ago received several job offers within the academic research field and was invited to lunch with King Willem-Alexander. The winner of 2010 was asked by a South African producer to develop a prototype of their solar cooker in South Africa.

We are excited to see what comes out of this for Florianne. Congratulations again for receiving such a prestigious award! And a big thank you for all of your hard work and dedication!
