Further studies and job market

With your Bachelor’s diploma Chemical Science & Engineering (CSE)  you can directly enter the job market or further specialize with a Master’s programme at the University of Twente. Most graduates choose this last option.

Further studies with a Master’s programme

Most CSE graduates enter the English-taught Master’s programme Chemical Science & Engineering at the University of Twente. With your Bachelor’s degree you have direct access to this Master’s programme, in which you can specialise in Chemical & Process Engineering, Molecules & Organic Materials or Materials.

Other Master's programmes

The University of Twente also offers other related Master’s programmes, such as Water Technology, Sustainable Energy Technology and Nanotechnology. In some cases, you may be required to complete a pre-Master’s programme. You can often use your minor for this transition programme, so that after your Bachelor’s degree you can immediately start the Master’s programme of your choice.

COMBINE the master chemical Science & Engineering

Would you like to deepen your knowledge in the field of chemistry and does it appeal to you to convey your passion to others after your studies? For Dutch-speaking students, we offer the possibility to combine their Master's programme in Chemical Engineering with an additional master's degree from the UT teacher's programme: Education Science (you will be forwarded to a Dutch website). Upon completion, you will not only have a second master's degree, but also your first-degree teaching qualification enabling you to teach in junior and senior secondary education in the Netherlands.

Other possibilities
  • Do a Master’s degree abroad. During your Bachelor's programme, your Study Advisor can help you choose the best modules to prepare you for the Master's programme of your choice. However, keep in mind that other universities may ask you to first complete a pre-Master’s.
  • Get your first-degree teaching qualification. Do you want to share your passion for science and technology with young people? Then you should pursue the Dutch-taught Master’s programme Science Education. You can transfer directly or combine this with the Master's programme Chemical Engineering.
